Lance Gleason grew up in Upstate New York fishing the AuSable River, and learned to tie flies from master Fran Betters. He graduated from Paul Smith's college with an environmental ecology degree. He moved to Missoula, MT in the summer of 1992 and bought a raft before he bought a car. He met John Perry on the river, who taught him how to row a boat, and he has been guiding for him ever since. During the winter he works in Chile. When he's not guiding for trout, he likes to saltwater fish and swing flies for steelhead.
