John Miller grew up in the Catskills mountains in upstate New York. He began tying flies and fly-fishing at an early age, perfecting his skills on the Esopus, Kaaterskill, Plattekill, Beaverkill and Schoharie Rivers. His knowledge of aquatic entomology and proper photographic techniques have enabled him to capture stunning photos that have appeared in various articles and books, including the "Orvis Pocket Guide to Mayflies" by Dick Pobst, "Pocket Guide to Pennsylvania Hatches", by C. Meck & P. Weamer, "Fly-fishing Guide to Upper Delaware River", by Paul Weamer and the upcoming re-release of the "Mayfly ID Guide", by Al Caucci. John's work has also been in numerous periodicals such as Catch Magazine, Chasing Silver, Hatches, Fly Fisherman and more. He was also featured in an episode of Fly Fish America on ESPN Outdoors in 2005. John has been a guide and fly-fishing instructor for over 15 years. He mastered his skill of Entomology at the Delaware River Club with colleagues Al Caucci and Bob Nastasi. He also guided in West Michigan for Matt Supinski at The Gray Drake Lodge. In late spring and summer you'll find him as a guide for the West Branch Angler on the Upper Delaware River System and in the fall, winter and early spring on The Lake Erie Tributaries guiding for Steelhead Alley Outfitters. He has also been an Orvis endorsed guide since 2002. Whether it's steelhead in the Great Lakes or chasing wild trout in the Catskills, you'll always find John near some piece of water guiding clients, harassing big browns with dries or photographing the funky little things that trout eat.
