Adam Trina (right) and guide Dustin Huff in the Florida Keys
ADAM TRINA, President and Founder of Montana Fly Company, started fly-fishing at a young age, in the Adirondack Mountains near Lake Placid, in upstate New York. He tied flies for Fran Betters for 3 years during high school. In a quest for more and bigger trout he moved to Missoula, Montana to pursue his degree in Aquatic Biology from the University of Montana. Adam started guiding in Missoula in 1992 and eventually guided on most Montana rivers, including Rock Creek, Clark Fork, Bitteroot, Blackfoot, Missouri, Smith, Bighole, Beaverhead, and the Yellowstone rivers. He continued to tie commercially for 6 years for the Missoulian Angler, Grizzly Hackle, and Kingfisher Fly Shops. He started Montana Fly Company in 1998 to provide shops with better and more innovative patterns than were currently available.
Duncan Oswald at Turneffe Island, Belize
DUNCAN OSWALD has been fly fishing since he was 9 years old, following his Grandfather along to fish high-mountain streams. He has tied flies commercially for 25 years, and has guided for trout and salmon for 4 years in Alaska in Wood River-Tikchik State Park, and for 5 years on Missoula-area streams for several different fly shops. He graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Fisheries Biology, and has worked for the Forest Service on endangered Bull Trout and spring spawing Chinook Salmon projects in ID, and on catch and release projects on Alaskan Rainbow Trout for the U.S.G.S. He has assisted in managing Montana Fly Company factories in Costa Rica and in Thailand since their inception in 1998. When he isn't fishing he is usually obtaining fly-tying materials with a bow or gun.
Greg Cunningham On The Bighorn
Greg has been fishing since he was 3 years old, with his father on the streams and rivers of Colorado. Greg picked up a fly rod for the first time when he was 8 years old, and has never put iit down. Afterguiding for 18 years (part-time) Greg decided to follow his passion into the business full time. In 1998 he made his first trip to Thailand, to work with tiers at the factory, and has basically been there ever since. After a few years of traveling back and forth, Greg moved to Thailand full time in 2005, where he helps manage the tying factory for Montana Fly. When not in the office going through thousands of flies, and mounds of materials, he can be found enjoying a round of golf with his wife Saovanee and son Trevor.
